MP celebrates a growing local business during visit to Kempston employer

Bedford MP Richard Fuller celebrated the success of a local business during a visit to Kempston-based Newnorth Print Ltd this week. He brought leading MEP, Vicky Ford, to meet employees and hear how the company has invested and grown the business.

Newnorth Print was founded in 1971 and offers smart e-commerce printing solutions as well as traditional printing and merchandise products.

Mrs Ford, a Member of the European Parliament for Bedfordshire, toured their facilities in Kempston with Mr Fuller and discussed what barriers to trade small and medium sized businesses face when trading in the single market.

Mrs Ford campaigns to remove EU red tape and bureaucracy and has recently been elected to chair the Parliament's influential Single Market committee. She has been meeting businesses across the East of England to better understand their issues, challenges and opportunities. During the tour of the company's facilities the MP and MEP saw the new printing equipment in which the company has recently invested over £2 million. This is the third time she has visited Bedford-based small and medium sized companies with Richard Fuller.

Richard Fuller MP commented "It's great to see this local business growing and investing in new technology. Supporting small businesses is a crucial part of our long-term economic plan, creating more jobs and increasing the country's economic security."

Mrs Ford added "It is good to see small and medium sized firms taking advantage of the stronger economy to invest and grow. The printing sector has seen rapid change and companies like Newnorth Print have needed to be flexible to survive. European politicians need listen to concerns of small businesses and stop overloading them with red tape and bureaucracy. This is one of our key areas for reform in Europe.

My Political Priorities

Economic Stability must come first. Without a strong economy we can not deliver a strong society. I work with businesses and consumers to keep Britain open for business, cutting red tape, boosting trade opportunities and helping to deliver jobs and growth for all.

I support Science and Research which is key to delivering better medical care, healthy food as well as the Innovation and Creative Industries which bring improved lifestyles for all our families.

Strong home Security is vital in today's uncertain world, which requires robust policing and defence and deep international relationships that we can depend on. I work with others to achieve this.

I care about the Countryside and the Environment and making sure that rural and urban communities flourish.
